As they tried to drive off while igniting the fire, the car itself burst into flames.
The group scrambled out of the burning vehicle and abandoned it on the street.
Police arrived at the scene just after midnight on Monday to find both the car and the front of the house ablaze.

Officers used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
The residents inside the home were uninjured, though the exterior of the property was charred.
Investigators have now released CCTV footage of the incident in the hope of identifying the suspects.
“It is extremely likely they have suffered significant burns or injuries in the fire and police urge them to seek medical attention,” police said.
Anyone with information about the incident or those involved is urged to come forward.
