A pro-Palestine protest on Brisbane’s Story Bridge has been blocked by a Queensland court.

Queensland Police launched legal action this morning in a bid to stop thousands marching over the bridge on Sunday as part of a national day of action.

Chief Magistrate Janelle Brassington has now refused the protestors’ bid to hold the protest, citing public safety concerns.

Justice for Palestine rally organisers have indicated they could defy any court order and go ahead with the protest that will highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Up to 10,000 people were expected to attend the Brisbane rally as part of the nationwide day of action that has been billed as the largest pro-Palestine demonstration in Australia’s history.

Police and the protest organisers are expected to speak later today.

Two alleged drink drivers and an unsupervised learner driver have been caught by police following a three-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred about 10pm on Wednesday at the intersection of Yawalpah Rd and the Pacific Motorway onramp at Pimpama, Gold Coast.

Police allege a 27-year-old Ormeau Hills man, behind the wheel of a Honda Accord, returned a blood alcohol reading (BAC) of 0.154 per cent — more than three times the legal limit.

He has been charged with drink driving and was also issued a traffic infringement notice for failing to stop at a red light.

He is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on September 17.

A 51-year-old Upper Coomera man, driving a Toyota Landcruiser, allegedly recorded a BAC of 0.120 per cent.

He has also been charged with drink driving and is due to appear in court on September 4.

A subsequent search of his vehicle and clothing allegedly uncovered dangerous drugs.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old learner driver from Coomera, who was driving a Ford Focus, was caught driving without a supervising adult.

He was issued a traffic infringement notice for the offence.

All three drivers escaped injury in the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.

A head-on collision between two heavy vehicles has claimed the lives of both drivers.

Emergency services rushed just before 6am on Thursday to the D’Aguilar Highway at Nukku, near Blackbutt, after reports of a crash between a fuel tanker and a heavy rigid transport.

A man in his 50s driving the fuel tanker and a man in his 30s driving the rigid truck had life-threatening injuries and died at the scene, Queensland Police Service (QPS) confirmed.

No other vehicles were involved.

The PSPA was declared at 6.15 am due to one tanker carrying fuel, with a 1-kilometre exclusion zone in place, police said.

This includes the Daguilar Hwy, the northern end of Nukku Rd, and the southern end of Nukku Boundary Rd.

The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.

“The D’Aguilar Highway remains closed in both directions while crash investigators work to piece together what led to this tragic event,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and expect lengthy delays, with no confirmed timeline for reopening the major highway.

Authorities are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage or witnessed the incident to come forward.

A woman has been killed in a suspected domestic violence incident in Perth’s northeast.

The woman in her 30s was found with critical injuries at a home on Reid St in Bassendean about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

It is believed she had been stabbed.

She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she later died.

A man in his 20s was taken into police custody.

It is believed the pair were known to eachother.

“The investigation remains ongoing at this time,” WA Police said.

A man and his dog have been rescued from their van which was trapped in floodwaters in NSW.

The pair became stuck when water rose in Douglas Park in the state’s Macarthur Region, southwest of Sydney, on Thursday morning.

SES, fire crews and police sprang into action and successfully managed to free the man and his dog from the car.

A search is also currently underway for two missing men after a car crashed into the Macdonald River in St Albans late on Wednesday night.

A third man managed to escape the vehicle and find safety on a riverbank.

Parts of the state were drenched overnight with Sydney hit with 700mm of rain in 24 hours.

Further north Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid-North Coast has been drenched with 95mm of rain.

Flood watches are active around the Mid North Coast, Northwest Slopes and Hunter region in NSW, with major flooding possible on the Gwydir and Namoi Rivers.

The NSW SES has warned motorists not to enter floodwaters.

“Heavy rainfall is expected to continue today and renewed flooding is forecast for the coastal and north west areas of the state,” the agency said.

Two people have suffered life-threatening injuries in a fiery crash on a highway in rural Queensland.

A fuel tanker and a semi-trailer collided on the D’Aguilar Hwy at Nukku in the South Burnett Region about 5.50am on Thursday.

Paramedics assessed two people with life-threatening injuries.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson told www.20304050.best the two people are not expected to be taken to hospital.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

The highway is currently closed in both directions and traffic diversions are in place.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating,” police said.

A third man has been charged over the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in the car park of a popular beach earlier this year.

Ekampreet Sahni, 18, was​ gunned down at Bar Beach in Newcastle, NSW​ on April 23.

Sahni was involved in a large carpark brawl when a gunman emerged from a white SUV mid-fight and fired.

The teenager died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man has now been charged in relation to Sahni’s death following a search warrant on Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives searched a home on Tirriki St in Charlestown where they found and seized $7,900 in cash, 28g of cocaine and an electronic device.

The 18-year-old was arrested at the property and has been charged with two counts of possess unauthorised pistol, two counts of passenger not disclose driver’s/other passenger’s identity and possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm.

The teenager was refused bail to appear before court on Thursday.

Two other men have already been arrested and charged in relation to Sahni’s death.

In April a 22-year-old man was ​arrested and charged with murder.​

Following the execution of a search warrant in Newcastle last month a 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with a series of offences including murder and possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm.

Both men remain before the courts.

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.

A man was seriously injured in a stabbing at a shopping centre in Lake Macquarie, with two teens arrested over the attack.

The 32-year-old was allegedly stabbed with a knife on Ridley St in Charlestown about 8.40pm.

Two people ran from the scene, police said.

The man was treated by paramedics for serious lacerations to his arm before being taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Police arrested two 17-year-old boys nearby before taking them to Belmont Police Station.

They were both charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

One of the boys was also charged with possessing a prohibited drug.

Both teens were refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday.

There are fears for the safety of a father and son after the car they were travelling in crashed into a river north of Sydney.

The car first crashed into a tree before plunging into the Macdonald River, near Settlers Rd in St Albans about 11.50pm on Wednesday.

One passenger, a man in his 20s, managed to escape from the car and reach the riverbank.

He was assessed by paramedics but did not need any further treatment.

Two other men who were in the car remain missing.

Inspector Claudette Gebrael said the men in the car was a father and his two sons.

SES and NSW Rural Fire Service crews are searching the area for the men.

Police divers will also be joining in the search.
