A passing driver stopped and saw the man on the ground however he was already dead.

Detective Inspector Jason Hogan said the man was walking westbound on the shoulder of the road when he was hit by a car that failed to stop.

It’s unclear what the man was doing on the road but “that will form part of our inquiries”, Hogan said.

“We have spoken to some next of kin and we believe he lives in the Yarramundi area,” he said.

“They’re really upset at the moment as can be expected.”

Hogan said police had identfied vehicle debris where the man was found that is similar to an early model 2000 Ford Festiva.

A dark coloured car was seen driving erratically and without its lights on along Springwood Rd heading north around the time of the incident.

He also urged people to keep an eye out for the Ford that may have been involved, saying it’s likely to have damage to the lower part of the car.

“To the driver and to anyhone who might have information about the crash, they need to report that to the police to assist our investugation and to give the family some anwsers about what happened to the 51-year-old male,” Hogan said.

Mysterious messages graffitied on home where man and woman found dead

Multiple mysterious messages have been written in graffiti on a Melbourne home where a man and women were found dead.

The bodies were found at an address on Adrienne Cres in Mount Waverley about 9.55pm on Monday.

Police initially received a call about 9.20pm reporting that yelling could be heard from the home.

They then received a second call that suggested the situation was more “urgent”, Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said.

Following investigations police identified a person of interest and a manhunt ensued involving the Critical Incident Response team and the AirWing.

A 34-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested at Westall train station about 1.40am on Tuesday.

Multiple messages were written in graffiti on the home and on a fence opposite the property.

The messages include “enough is enough”, “karma has no menu” and multiple references to veganism such as “meat is murder”.

Police are investigating potential links between the graffiti and the deaths.

“Homicide Squad detectives will work to determine if the graffiti is relevant to the murder investigation,” Victoria Police said.

The supsect was found at the train station with two large dogs and was “peacefully” taken into custody, Thomas said.

He will be interviewed by detectives in relation to the deaths.

“We believe that there is a link between our suspect and the address but we’re just working together at this point to make sense of what that means and what it all looks like,” Thomas said.

“The suspect has arrived at the address and then obviously an altercation has occurred which had led to the male and female being killed and the subject has then left the address.

“We’ve got our major crime scene examiners ... examining the scene at the moment, that will take quite some time. That will go for the best part of the day.”
