The 41-year-old from Zillmere was arrested at a home in Morningside on July 16 in relation to an outstanding warrant.

He was transported to the Brisbane City Watchhouse where three days later he became unresponsive.

Watchhouse and nursing staff rendered first aid before emergency services arrived however the man died not long after.

Authorities fail to locate crocodile at popular swimming spot after multiple reported sightings

Authorities have been unable to locate a crocodile at popular swimming spot on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast after multiple people reported sightings over the weekend.

A number of people claimed to have seen a croc at Noosa Spit, including two fisherman who said they first spotted the animal on a sonar.

“(We were) fishing and looking at the sonar ... I saw the shape come through. I had a look at it again. I said, ‘that doesn’t look right.’ I had a closer look,” Kai Tapley said.

Earlier Tapley and his friend had heard a rumour that a resident had spotted a crocodile in the area.

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation began investigating the sightings.

During the day on Tuesay rangers conducted a 15km search of the Noosa River from the mouth to Lake Cooroibah.

That night a 19km search was done of the same area of the river as well as Weyba Rd in the south.

No evidence of a crocodile was found during either searches.

“The department will continue to monitor for further reports,” it said.

“People are encouraged to assist by providing any further information.”

Man allegedly steals Woolworths grocery truck and leads police on cross-city pursuit

A man has allegedly stolen a Woolworths grocery truck and led police on a pursuit across Sydney.

About 6am a 23-year-old truck driver was allegedly hit with a stun device and assaulted by a man on Olympic Pde in Bankstown.

The offender took off in the truck, with police later spotting it travelling on the Princes Hwy at Rockdale.

Officers tried to pull over the truck however the driver refused, leading police to engage in an active pursuit.

The pursuit continued at Wolli Creek, where the truck allegedly hit four parked cars but continued driving.

Due to safety concerns the pursuit was stopped with the truck last seen driving on the M8.

The AirWing continued to follow the vehicle which travelled westbound onto the M4 before reaching the Great Western Hwy at Glenbrook.

Police were able to successfuly deploy road spikes and the truck eventually came to a stop at Blaxland.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, was tasered and then arrested.

He was taken to Springwood Police Station before being transported to hospital to be checked for minor injuries he received during the arrest.

The original 23-year-old driver of the Woolworths truck was taken to Bankstown Hospital. The nature of his injuries is unclear.

All lanes reopen following fatal crash on Sydney motorway

All citybound lanes have reopened on the M4 at Merrylands in Western Sydney following a fatal scooter accident.

The lanes had been closed between the Cumberland Hwy and Burnett St after a male rider was struck twice on the motorway.

Significant delays remain on the M4 and motorists have been urged to allow for plenty of extra travel time.

Local buses in Merrylands, Greystanes and Parramatta had been delayed due to the heavy traffic but are now returning to schedule.

The man was hit near the Burnett Rd on-ramp about 2am.

He was knocked from his scooter by a white sedan and then hit by a second vehicle, which was a police car.

The man was critically injured and paramedics began CPR before the rider was taken to Westmead Hospital fighting for life.

He could not be revived.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden provided more details about the incident during a press conference which can be found in earlier post here.

Details of deadly M4 crash involving police car emerge amid probe of possible cause

The slow speed of a scooter on the M4 at Western Sydney is being investigated as a possible cause of a deadly crash.

The rider of the “small scooter” was struck once by civilian car, and then again by a police car, before two other vehicles became involved in the crash at Merrylands, by the Burnett Rd on-ramp about 1.50am on Wednesday.

The victim, a man in his 20s or 30s who is yet to be formally identified, could not be revived at Westmead Hospital.

His next of kin is yet to be notified of the death, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said at a press conference.

He was in lane one, when a white Kia sedan merged into him from lane two, throwing him off of his scooter.

The rider was then struck by a Toyota Echo driven by an on-duty male senior police constable.

Why the Kia merged when it did, the impact of the police car, and exactly how the other vehicles were involved, will be analysed as part of the critical incident investigation which is subject to independent review.

“I want to emphasise that the police vehicle was not on urgent duty ... they were on their way back to the station at Granville,” McFadden said.

“Everyone involved in this incident is shaken, it’s a tragic set of circumstances.”

It is believed that the young victim was travelling “well below” the 90km/h zone for the area.

“Often when speed is a factor, it’s normally associated with high speed, but this time it’s actually the opposite,” McFadden said.

“We’re getting early indications that a low speed might be a contributing factor.”

Police are looking for witnesses who may have noticed the scooter and any notable driving behaviour before the crash, or who witnessed the crash or aftermath.

Given the nature of the investigation, there is no indication when eastbound lanes of the M4 will reopen to traffic, McFadden said.
