PlayStation 5 users looking forward to the grand release of the hand-held Portal can finally pre-order the device ahead of its February release.

The PlayStation Portal is a device specifically created to allow gamers to play PS5 games from a console via Remote Play so long as Wi-Fi is available.

It looks much like a Nintendo Switch and operates in a similar way with a wide display, controls on either side and haptic feedback.

Instead of having to bring your physical console on holidays or to someone else’s house, you can just pick up the Portal and play on the go.

The remote player can play compatible games you have installed on your PS5 console from PS5 or PS4, all for the locked in price of $329.

Amazon is allowing customers to pre-order the Portal today so that when it’s finally released on February 2, 2024, it will ship directly to you.

EB Games is also selling the device but a $50 deposit is required to pre-order, and JB Hi-Fi is asking customers to pay the full price before locking in their pre-order.

No matter what platform you buy the device on they will all be shipped from February 2.

Gamers overseas who have already started to use the Portal have given the product mixed - but enthusiastic - reviews.

“Everything just looks crisp and alive on the screen and I really do prefer it over using Remote Play on my phone,” one person said.

“This device sort of lives and dies depending on your Wi-Fi connection but overall it’s a fun way to get access to all of the games you love no matter where you are,” said another.

If you’d like to pre-order the PlayStation Portal you can do so on Amazon here.
