Alien: Earth — new series premiere (Disney Plus)Streaming August 13

Almost half a century later, Ridley Scott’s critically acclaimed Alien film is getting a prequel TV series. Taking place three decades before the original movie, Alien: Earth takes place in 2120 and centres on a young woman who has had her consciousness transferred into a synthetic body.

She then finds herself saddled with an odd group of soldiers tasked with investigating a ship that’s crash-landed on Earth. What they find on board defies their darkest fears.

Alien: Earth lands on August 13 on Disney Plus.

Wednesday — season 2, part 1 premiere (Netflix)Streaming now

Wednesday has been exhumed from her tomb and is back on our screens from August 6.

This season is being released in two parts, part one airing in August and part two in September.

Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy for another year but this time she’ll unearth her greatest fear— popularity.

Jenna Ortega (Scream films, Death of a Unicorn) reprises her role as the Addam’s family’s only daughter alongside some new cast members, including Billie Piper (Doctor Who), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) and Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) as Grandmamma.

The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition — Movie premiere (Max)Streaming August 9

The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) trilogy is known for being the longest of all time, but believe it or not, there were so many extra scenes that didn’t make the original cut. Well, now you won’t have FOMO over them because the Extended Edition of all three LOTR films has a home on Max this month.

Originally released in 2001, Tolkien’s beloved books-turned-films will feature an extra 2 hours and 9 minutes across all three films. You’ll spend more time in Hobbiton, be reunited with Boromir, watch Aragorn in fight mode and witness more screentime for Pippin.
