Channel Seven stars shine bright as full list of TV Week Logie Awards nominees is released

Sonia Kruger, Lynne McGranger and Michael Usher are up for this year’s gongs.

Channel Seven stars Sonia Kruger, Lynne McGranger and Michael Usher are all up for TV Week Logie Award gongs this year, with the full list of nominees announced this morning.

Dancing With The Stars host Kruger and Home and Away stalwart McGranger, are up for the highly-coveted Gold Logie.

In the category for Best News Coverage or Public Affairs report, 7NEWS was nominated for its outstanding coverage of Cyclone Alfred and the Trump Assassination Attempt.

Sunrise is nominated in the same category for its coverage of Melbourne protests.

Spotlight is up for Best Current Affairs category.

Highly acclaimed Michael Usher has been nominated for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter, which is a new addition.

Martin, a five-time Gold Logie winner, will take to the stage to present the awards.

Speaking to Monique Wright on Sunrise on Monday, Usher said: “Living legend that he is. To be nominated in a category after Ray Martin, it’s amazing company to be in. I’m very chuffed for the nomination as well.

“It’s for news and current affairs presenter in that category. We have a great showing in news stories. Sunrise, nominated for the Melbourne riots. Our Brisbane team is nominated for Cyclone Alfred, and the Trump assassination.”

TV WEEK editorial director Amber Giles said: “Looking at the list of nominations, it’s always thrilling to see the diverse range of Australian stories being told on our screens.

“It’s especially pleasing to see the breadth of original Australian content on both free-to-air and streaming services. If you see a show or star on the list that you’ve watched and enjoyed, then don’t be shy – get voting!”

The awards ceremony that will be held at The Star in Sydney on August 3.

The beloved awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Seven and 7Plus, with comedian and TV personality Sam Pang returning as host.

Fans can now vote for their favourites from the shortlisted nominees at TV Week’s website.
