A photographer caused a near 10-minute delay at the US Open after inexplicably walking onto the court on match point during the first-round match between Daniil Medvedev and Benjamin Bonzi.
Bonzi was serving for the match at 5-4, having taken the first two sets, and had advantage when the bizarre sequence unfolded.

The Frenchman missed his first serve and was preparing for his second serve when a photographer suddenly walked along the side of the court.
“Wait please, not now, get off the court please,” chair umpire Greg Allensworth can be heard saying.
The umpire then announced Bonzi would get to repeat his first serve because of the delay caused by an outside interference.
That decision enraged Medvedev and the crowd.

Medvedev, the 2021 champion and 13th seed, encouraged the crowd to continue their booing as he approached the umpire.
“Are you a man? Are you a man? Why are you shaking? What’s wrong huh?” Medvedev can be heard saying to the chair umpire.
He then looks down the camera and says, “guys, he wants to leave. He gets paid by the match, not by the hour.”
Medvedev then went back to the court, but continued to entice the crowd.
He repeatedly said, “What did Reilly Opelka say,” which was a reference to the American calling Allensworth the worst umpire on tour.
The noise continued for close to six minutes before play finally continued.
Social media exploded at the unprecedented scenes.
“I’ve never seen a situation like this... this is unbelievable, almost six minutes,” Robbie Koenig said on Stan Sport.
“This (Louis) Armstrong crowd has been sent into a frenzy ... all hell broke loose, inciting the crowd.”
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Aussie tennis great Jelena Dokic said on Nine.
“Photographer walking on court when he’s not supposed to could’ve just changed the entire match,” world No.4 Taylor Fritz said.
“A total circus. Pathetic stuff,” prominent commentator Jose Morgado tweeted.
“One of the most insane 10 minute sequences in US Open history just now on Armstrong. Wild, wild s**t,” Ben Rothenberg added.

The photographer was later seen leaving the court surrounded by security. And he had his credentials for the remainder of the tournament revoked.
Medvedev won the next three points to get the set back on serve and then won the tiebreaker to extend the match.
He quickly carried that momentum into the fourth set to win it 6-0 and send the match into a decider.
But while all signs pointed towards the Russian completing a remarkable comeback, Bonzi regrouped to win the decider 6-4 after a rollercoaster final set.
In another twist to the wild match, Medvedev remained on the court for several minutes and obliterated his racquet as he came to terms with the shock defeat.
He eventually trudged off to a warm round of applause from the crowd.
