The Australian Ice Hockey League is investigating after a fan chased a player down the tunnel following a separate brawl on the ice on Saturday.
The gloves were off when the Melbourne Mustangs’ Nick Ponomarev and Perth Thunder’s American import Jake Hamilton went toe-to-toe with just seconds remaining in Perth’s dominant 8-0 win away from home — but it didn’t end there.

Ponamorev, who appeared to cop multiple punches in the fight, was the first to head off the ice to serve his penalty.
Hamilton initially refused to leave, skating around before he cupped a hand to his ear and shooshing the fired-up crowd.
As he headed towards the tunnel he added salt to the wounds by gesturing a belt around his waist to remind Melbourne fans who won the battle.
Boos rained down on Hamilton but one fan took it too far, racing down the stairs to confront the Perth player.
The man could be seen pointing and yelling at Hamilton before deciding to enter the tunnel.
He was tracked by another Thunder player, who managed to get in between before multiple referees also stepped in.

“One of the fans is trying to get into the tunnel!” one said.
“We’ve got an incident in the tunnel. One of the Mustangs fans has tried to go after Jake Hamilton in the tunnel.”
A woman and another man could also be seen coming down the stairs while security intervened, sending the three fans back to their seats.
But on the way there a Perth player goaded the first man, hitting his stick into the glass above the bench, with the man punching the barrier and returning to his seat.
An official and security followed the trio.
“I think he needs to be evicted from the building,” the commentator said.
The AIHL confirmed it is investigating the incident.
“The league has the full co-operation of the Thunder, Mustangs and O’Brien Icehouse and will not make a further statement until the investigation has been finalised,” the AIHL said.
“We thank fans for their patience and support.”
