Richmond premiership forward Tom Lynch will miss the Dreamtime at the ‘G blockbuster against Essendon on Friday night after being placed in concussion protocols.
The 32-year-old reported delayed symptoms to the club doctor after the Tigers’ loss to North Melbourne on Sunday. Richmond confirmed he was involved in a “heavy contest late” in the match.

Lynch was collected in a marking contest in the fourth quarter and appeared to fall head first into the turf.
He was slow to get on all fours then went back down, before eventually making his way to his feet and playing out the game.
“While he was initially feeling and looking OK and able to be cleared by our medical staff, in the hours after the game he began to develop symptoms,” Richmond football boss Tim Livingstone said on Monday.
“As a result of this, our doctor has placed Tom in the concussion protocols, and he will now be monitored closely through the coming days and required period of time.
“His health and wellbeing as always, will be our main priority.”
Lynch, coming off two injury-riddled seasons, also suffered a concussion in a pre-season training incident in January.
If he recovers well from his latest knock, he will be available to return against the GWS Giants in Sydney on May 31.
Lynch took an equal game-high six marks and kicked two goals against the Kangaroos, taking his tally to double figures for the first time since his 63-goal 2022 campaign.
His absence from the Dreamtime clash coincides with Noah Balta being unavailable due to his court-imposed 10pm curfew.
