Izak Rankine has made an All Australian squad for the first time in the wake of his season-ending ban, picked alongside four Adelaide teammates.
The AFL announced the 44-man group on Tuesday ahead of the final 22 being unveiled on Thursday night.

The ladder-leading Crows were one of four teams to provide five players, alongside Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Bulldogs.
Rankine last week copped a four-match ban for a homophobic slur but has rightly been rewarded for his 31-goal season with his first call-up to the squad.
He will only return to the field this year if Adelaide lose their qualifying final.
While the Crows will be desperate to secure a safe passage through to the preliminary final, they are also keen to welcome Rankine back into the fold after his Italian getaway this week.
“He’s got a big role to play, once he gets back,” Adelaide veteran Taylor Walker said on Tuesday.
“He’ll be training and making our backs better, getting in the midfield and causing them havoc to make them get better.
“So it would be great to have that infectious kid back around the footy club. He’s got a magnificent smile, and we love him dearly.”
Rankine’s Crows teammates Mark Keane, Riley Thilthorpe and Josh Worrell have also been named to the squad alongside captain and 2023 All Austalian Jordan Dawson.
The All Australian selection panel is chaired by AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon and features Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Abbey Holmes, Glen Jakovich, Laura Kane and Matthew Pavlich.
Last year’s All Australian captain Marcus Bontempelli is in the squad despite playing just 17 games, with Sam Darcy also named after the same number of appearances.
Tom Liberatore is in the mix for a maiden All Australian blazer after two previous squad appearances and Ed Richards is likely to win his first, while Bailey Dale is a chance for a second.
Gold Coast’s Noah Anderson, Sam Collins, Ben King, Ben Long and Matt Rowell have been rewarded for all but leading the Suns to the finals for the first time.
Reigning premiers Brisbane have only returned Harris Andrews and Dayne Zorko to the squad from last year, with Zac Bailey, Josh Dunkley and Hugh McCluggage named alongside the veterans.
Notable players overlooked from across the AFL include Tristan Xerri (North Melbourne), Callum Wilkie (St Kilda), Zach Merrett (Essendon) and Aaron Naughton (Western Bulldogs).
