There are concerns for AFL star Zac Bailey’s mother after it was revealed on Saturday that she has had a serious health scare.
Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan confirmed the news on Saturday morning, revealing Bailey’s mother had suffered a stroke during the week.
The 25-year-old was unavailable for the Lions’ Friday night clash with the Bulldogs due to suspension.

But Fagan said the gun forward’s absence was probably a good thing despite his strong recent form.
“We’ll be able to welcome Zac Bailey back next week ... who was out this week with suspension,” Fagan said on SEN on Saturday morning.
“It was probably timely that he was out, because his mum had a stroke earlier in the week.
“So he sort of went back to Adelaide to see her. And I thought to myself, I don’t really think he should play this week.
“And as it turned out, he got suspended.”
Bailey missed the thrilling game at the Gabba after receiving a one-match ban for his high bump on Carlton’s Nick Haynes.
The Lions did attempt to have the suspension overturned at the tribunal on Tuesday night, but the rough conduct charge was upheld.
Fagan said, however, there did appear to be some welcome news in regard to Bailey’s mum.
“The good news is his mum’s going to be OK,” Fagan said.
“And Zac will be back this week, fresh from a from a week off.”
Bailey has been in top form this year, booting 26 goals from 17 games. Friday night was the first match he has missed this season.
After the Lions defeated the Western Bulldogs by just 10 points, they are currently sitting second on the ladder and looking nicely placed to defend their premiership title.
Next Saturday they will feature in arguably the biggest derby in Queensland’s history when they head to People First Stadium for a clash with cross-town rival Gold Coast.
The Suns are also enjoying a strong year and are on track to play in their first AFL finals series.
