The Western Bulldogs and Fremantle will be played at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon (3.15pm AEST) in match that could decide if the Dogs are in or out of the finals.

Fremantle’s hopes of a top-four slot and a double chance could also be on the line.

Also on the screens of Seven on Sunday, Hawthorn will take on Brisbane at the Gabba from 7.20pm AEST.

Again, that match will have a huge bearing on the top eight and could decide the Hawks’ finals fate and whether the Lions are playing at home in the first week of the finals.

On Wednesday night Gold Coast will be expected to secure their spot in the top eight — and their maiden finals appearance — when they take on Essendon.

But the Suns could power their way into the top four as well depending on results.

The Suns are currently sixth on the ladder but have a better percentage than third-placed Brisbane and fifth-placed Fremantle.

Their position in the eight could be up and down like yo-yo in the final home and away game of the season, depending on their percentage.

Gold Coast and Essendon will both play twice in the round, due to the rescheduling of their opening round game that was postponed due to Cyclone Alfred.

Essendon kicks off the round when they take on Carlton on Thursday night in what will be a dead rubber.

There will be two games on Friday night, when Melbourne goes head to head with Collingwood at the MCG followed by the Suns and Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Collingwood’s position in the top four could also hinge on a strong win over the Demons, while the Suns will have a short five-day break to prepare for the crucial clash with Essendon.

But all eyes will be on Wednesday night for the Suns-Bombers clash that will determine the exact finishing positions of the top eight.

“While it’s unconventional, we’re looking forward to rounding out what has already been a historic home-and-away season for the club here at People First Stadium on a Wednesday night,” Gold Coast chief executive Mark Evans said.

Just two wins separate first-placed Adelaide from GWS in eighth, with the Bulldogs one win further back with a strong percentage.

Only nine teams are realistically still in the finals hunt with three rounds left to play.

Of the 10 fixtures across the last week of the home and away season, eight will have a bearing on the finals make-up.

Seven director of sport Chris Jones said: “We’re thrilled with the games we’ve secured in Round 24 and the way they set up a blockbuster climax to what’s been an unbelievable AFL season.

“All four games on Seven in Round 24 feature teams that will play finals – a perfect lead-in to what promises to be an unforgettable 2025 finals series.

“In every decision taken together with the AFL, the fans remain at the forefront of everything we do. The passion and loyalty shown by the fans in every corner of the country is what makes the game so great and we are stoked to deliver an exceptional final round fixture for the fans.”

Jones also thanked the AFL and the clubs “for their continued support of Seven”.
