When first responders arrived they found new born Jason Weaver had suffered serious injuries after being bitten.

The baby was rushed to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne but tragically died from his injuries, a statement from Markle Police Department confirmed.

A forensic autopsy was carried out by Huntington County Coroner’s Office, and the boy’s cause of death was determined to be several blunt force traumatic injuries.

His death was ruled as accidental according to WPTA.

The family dog involved in the incident was identified as a five-year-old husky/pit bill cross.

The coroner’s office said the dog had “no law enforcement reported instances of aggression”.

Myers Funeral Homes posted a heart breaking tribute to the boy to Facebook.

“Jason enjoyed the sounds of Rock n Roll and country music. He loved the song ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.’ Though his time on this earth was short, he will be loved forever,” they wrote.

“A private family graveside will be held at Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville at a later date.

“Memorial Contributions can be made out to the family, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.”

Jason was the only son of Violet Weaver and Austin Kinsey.

Tributes are flowing for the boy and his family on social media.

“Very tragic!! My prayers and thoughts go out to the family...a family dog & child incident is a terrible terrible thing to go through,” one Facebook user wrote.

“This is terrible.... I have no words. Prayers to the family. Prayers of healing support and comfort to the officers & EMS having to witness this awful scene,” another wrote.

This comes after a woman was killed by a pack of dogs while on a walk in Kentucky.

Priscilla Jones, 44, was walking on Sandy Branch road in Knox County on August 29 when the terrible incident unfolded.

At about 2.30pm, she was attacked by a “pack of dogs” that local police say were “roaming the area”.

A person known to Ms Jones heard her screaming for help and quickly called emergency services.

When the East Knox Fire Department arrived they found Ms Jones with life threatening injuries that were so significant she was unable to communicate.

Paramedics rushed her to Barbourville ARH Hospital, but tragically her injuries were too severe and she could not be saved.
