A crime scene has been declared at a Gold Coast park after reports the body of a woman had been found.

The body of a 57-year-old woman was found at Cascade Gardens parklands near the Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach about 4pm on Tuesday.

A crime scene was established and forensic examinations of the area were carried out.

“Police will await the results of a postmortem to determine the cause of death,” the department said.

“Investigations remain ongoing.”

The parklands border the Nerang River and are less than a 10-minute walk to the beach.

Police remained on scene into Wednesday morning.
