A woman has been dragged along a road attempting to stop car thieves after a terrifying home invasion on the Gold Coast.

Five people wearing balaclavas arrived at a home on Kootingal St in Ashmore, before three of the people broke into the house, according to the police.

A woman was asleep at the home when she was woken by a noise at the front door about 11.30pm on Monday.

When the woman came out to see what caused the noise, she found a man sitting in her 2021 blue Porsche Macan.

The woman opened the driver’s door and was assaulted by the man.

She tried to open the door again, but the man reversed, dragging the woman along the road as they fled the scene.

“The woman sustained grazes and bruising and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition,” police said.

“A second vehicle, a 2018 black Land Rover Discovery, was also stolen from the residence during the robbery.”

The stolen Porsche was spotted driving north on Pacific Mwy near Pimpama, where it evaded police at about 12.25am.

Two stolen cars found abandoned in Molendinar and Mudgeeraba the same night are believed to be linked to the group, authorities said.

“Police are appealing to anyone with dash-camera footage, CCTV or other vision around the Ashmore area at the time of the incident, to please come forward,” they said.

Investigations are continuing.
