A violent assault following a dispute over a car purchase has left a man with serious injuries after he was allegedly thrown from a first-floor veranda.

Queensland Police said the incident unfolded around 1pm on August 9 in Staplyton, Gold Coast, when three people arrived at the man’s property, reportedly in relation to the recent sale of a 2013 Nissan Pulsar online for less than three thousand dollars.

It will be alleged the group confronted the 52-year-old, demanding a refund, before tensions escalated and he was thrown from the veranda to the ground below breaking the balustrade.

Police further allege the seller was assaulted again while on the ground with part of the broken railing by one of the men, after which the group fled the scene in a Volkswagen van.
