Security cameras captured the moment the pair was attacked by a man in a carpark on 9th Ave in Inglewood, in Perth’s northern suburbs.
The stranger immediately began kicking and punching and, at one point, the 34-year-old victim was picked up and thrown to the ground — where he was kicked again.
“He just came out of thin air and jumped on him,” Stirling councillor Damien Giudici told 7NEWS.
The victim was fortunate to escape with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information should contact police.

Fed-up residents say crime in the area is out of hand and the attack is the latest in a spate of anti-social behaviour.
Police have been called to a public housing unit complex on the same street 306 times in six months.
“Our community is scared,” local resident Melissa Molinari said.
“We won’t walk down these streets, we won’t come and enjoy our community because we’re scared for our safety.”
The City of Stirling says the state government needs to deal with this now.
“Our community has been really patient and we’ve been going through the proper processes and then we see that kind of unsettling vision that we saw (on Saturday), and that’s not even the first of it,” Giudici said.
The Department of Communities says it is aware of concerns relating to a small number of tenancies at the complex and is working with police and the local council to address concerns.
