It’s thought to have been stolen on Anzac Day.

“I suppose it’s just disappointing that somebody would go and do that, especially when we are supporting veterans and their welfare, and (creating) a place for veterans to come together,” the RSL’s vice president Justin Hughes told 7NEWS.

The RSL has appealed for help tracking down the statue.

“It’s very popular with the public to come here on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day,” Hughes said.

“We’d really appreciate it returned, if we can.”

Before it was taken, two statues hovered over garden beds which are used to grow poppies as a tribute to war veterans.

The RSL has a spare sitting in storage but members are now hesitant to put it on display.
