Two people are dead after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in the NSW central west.

Emergency services were called to Canowindra Rd, Canowindra — about 45 minutes south-west of Orange — about 2.20pm Sunday following reports of a crash.

They found a B-double truck and a sedan had collided head-on, the impact causing the truck to roll onto its side.

The driver of the sedan — a 67-year-old man — and his 63-year-old female passenger died at the scene.

The 30-year-old male truck driver was treated for minor injuries and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigations are continuing.
