The boat flipped when it hit a rogue wave in the water.

Two boaties have been injured after they were thrown from their vessel during a fishing competition on Sunday.

Their boat struck a rogue wave and flipped in Pittwater, near Bayview in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, about 3pm, 7NEWS understands.

The men had been competing in the Australian Bass Tournaments.

One man injured his leg and the other was hospitalised as a precaution.

They were both taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital in stable condition.

Their boat was towed back to Rowland Reserve Boat Ramp in Bayview, as investigations into the incident began.

NSW Police Rescue, NSW Ambulance and Marine Rescue responded to the scene
