Tradie Alessandro Cavuoto jailed for life for burning his housemate Todd Bradmore to death in Adelaide’s northwest

The victim’s body was so horrifically burnt he could only be identified by his tattoos, a doctor said during the trial.

An Adelaide tradesman who murdered his housemate by setting him on fire has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years.

Alessandro Cavuoto, 36, will spend more than two decades behind bars after being found guilty of the horrific murder of his friend, Todd Bradmore, 31, on March 17, 2021.

The attack happened during a blackout at Woodville West, in Adelaide’s northwest suburbs, where Cavuoto and Bradmore lived together.

Bradmore was holding a candle when Cavuoto doused him with two-stoke petrol, setting him alight, in an attack witnessed by Bradmore’s girlfriend.

Cavuoto did not stop to help or call an ambulance, leaving Bradmore burning and in agony.

Bradmore was rushed to hospital where two days later he died from burns, which extended from his head to his lower legs.

During the trial a burns specialist said Bradmore had burns to 80 per cent of his body and could only be recognised by his tattoos.

Cavuaoto fled South Australia and was arrested two days after the attack, after crashing his car during a police chase in NSW, and extradited back to Adelaide.

Cavuoto was found guilty of murder in June 2025 in the Adelaide Supreme Court.

He has now been sentenced to life in jail with a non-parole period of 24 years. He will be eligible for parole in 2045.
