A toddler has died at a home in the NSW Hunter Region.

The two-year-old boy was found unresponsive at a property in Fingal Bay, near Port Stephens north of Newcastle, about 12.10pm on Monday.

Officers performed CPR on the child until paramedics and Careflight doctors arrived.

However, the child could not be saved and died.

“Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NSW Police said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
