A teenager has died after being struck by a ute in the early hours of Saturday.

The 18-year-old from Kingaroy was “lying on the roadway” when he was hit by the car, Queensland Police said.

The Toyota Hilux was travelling on Wondai Proston Rd in Hivesville, a rural town about two hours inland from Noosa, when it struck the young man at about 6am.

The Kingaroy man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
