A group of young men were involved in the fight which erupted outside a Kmart store.

A young man has been charged after a brawl outside a shopping centre left two people in hospital with stab wounds.

The 18-year-old was charged with affray following his arrest at North Rooty Hill in Sydney’s west about 4pm on Wednesday.

He was allegedly involved in a fight between two groups of young men outside Kmart at Westfield Mount Druitt on Carlisle Ave about 5.15pm on Tuesday.

Police say the altercation began in Dawson Mall about 15 minutes earlier, with the fight only lasting a few minutes.

During the fight outside Kmart, a 22-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the back, suffering a punctured lung and other serious injuries.

A 17-year-old suffered deep lacerations to his hands and cheek.

The pair were both taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

A third man, aged 20, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

A number of knives were recovered from the scene.

The 18-year-old was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.

Police will allege in court the 18-year-old was known to the boy and the man who were stabbed.

Superintendent Darrin Batchelor previously said the group was well known to police and that the remaining offenders would be identified and arrested soon.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage from the area has been urged to come forward.
