Rick Davies, one of the founding members of British rock band Supertramp, has died following a battle with cancer at the age of 81.
The singer-songwriter helped propel the group to worldwide success in the 1970s with iconic hits including Give A Little Bit and The Logical Song.
Davies passed away peacefully at his New York home, marking the end of an era for one of Britain’s most beloved rock acts.

Supertramp became synonymous with the classic rock sound of the 1970s, with Davies’ distinctive vocals and songwriting helping to define the band’s unique style that captivated audiences around the globe.
The band’s hits, including the memorable lyrics: “When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical” from The Logical Song, became anthems of a generation and continue to resonate with music lovers today.
Davies co-founded Supertramp in 1970 with singer-songwriter Roger Hodgson before being joined by Dougie Thomson, Bob Siebenberg, and John Helliwell for a 10-year stint in Supertramp lasting from 1973 to 1983.
Their final album, Slow Motion, was released in 2002.
Davies was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015 which led to the band cancelling a 25-date European tour.
