Stolen truck chase ends in arrest after chaotic three-hour pursuit from Brisbane to Tiaro

The vehicle was caught on camera driving erratically and caused traffic chaos.

An allegedly stolen truck has left traffic in chaos sending sparks flying on a highway during a police pursuit.

The vehicle was seen weaving across lanes at high speed with open doors along the Bruce Highway, as it travelled north from Brisbane, Queensland.

Queensland Police said they were alerted around 10.15am to the truck being stolen from Elizabeth St in Brisbane City.

Officers tracked the vehicle as it made its way up the Bruce Highway, stopping near Canterwood Rd at Owanyilla, south of Maryborough, Queensland just before 2pm.

Spot fires were seen burning in grass beside the highway north of the Sunshine Coast.

The 39-year-old Fortitude Valley man allegedly behind the wheel of the car was arrested just before 2pm.

He has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous driving, drive under the influence of liquor or a drug, evade and driving whilst suspended.

He will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police will continue to investigate and urge anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact police.
