The 21-year-old from Athelstone has been charged with arson, aggravated assault and causing harm to an emergency service worker.

An Adelaide woman has been arrested after allegedly lighting a house on fire in Adelaide’s east on June 1 and has since been hit with extra charges.

Emergency services were called to Burton Rd at Athelstone just before 1pm on Sunday, following reports the house was on fire.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics found the house engulfed by the fire, and despite efforts, the home was significantly damage.

A 21-year-old woman, an occupant of the property, was arrested at the scene. South Australia Police said a female officer was assaulted during the arrest.

The female occupant of the house was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment, while the injured officer was admitted for minor injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.

The occupant of the house was on Monday charged with arson, aggravated assault, causing harm to an emergency service worker and resisting police.

She was refused bail and is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
