WATCH ABOVE: Two men accused of a violent stabbing attack appear in court.
The 16-year-old boy received injuries to his back, thighs and hands, while a 27-year-old man from Craigmore sustained a laceration across his chest and a 31-year-old Murray Bridge man suffered a laceration to his head and wounds to his abdomen.
All three were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The 27-year-old from Craigmore has since been arrested and charged with affray and four counts of assault.
Another 25-year-old man, from Fulham Gardens, was arrested and charged with affray and assault.
On Tuesday, the Adelaide Magistrates Court heard that it was a “catch-up with friends” that turned violent.
SAPOL said it was Craig Makosa, 25, who brought the machete to the meet-up, alleging he turned on one of the victims in the belief he had stolen his phone.
Makosa is accused of then swinging the machete, hitting a man who was trying to defend himself with a chair.
He is also accused of stabbing the 16-year-old.
In court on Tuesday, the man with the chair, 27-year-old Chol Apech, who was also arrested and charged told the magistrate he was acting in self-defence and asked to be released on home detention bail.
He will find out next week if his appeal was successful.
Makosa had his bail application denied due to a “long history of violent offending” despite his lawyer arguing that he is a victim too.
He will remain behind bars until September.
