Recall alert for parents as ACCC warns of ‘serious injury’ risk from products sold on baby retailer Ezone

Parents are being warned to immediately stop using the two items amid fears they could cause ‘serious injury’ or death.

Two popular products have been pulled from from a baby and children’s website over safety concerns.

The ACCC’s Product Safety team issued the urgent recall alert for products from Ezone.com.au and said the online retailer would need to issue full refunds to any customer who bought the baby kids head support or the infant feeding pillow.

“Car seat head straps can increase the risk of spinal cord injury or death by altering head and neck alignment during a crash,” the ACCC said.

“They may also pose a suffocation or strangulation risk if they slip around the child’s mouth or neck.”

Children’s car seat head straps typically come with a forehead strap and are marketed as helping stop a child’s head from rolling forward if they fall asleep.

But the straps have a “risk of serious injury including spinal cord injuries or death to young children if the head strap alters the alignment of the head, neck and/or spine during a vehicle accident”, the ACCC said.

There is also a risk of suffocation or strangulation if the strap slips around the child’s mouth or neck.

The ACCC has records of incidents.

The head support has two product codes: Z1451, Z1758 and were sold in blue and red. They were sold on ezone.com.au between October 2021 and 1 November 2022.

The feeding pillow also could cause serious injury with the ACCC warning of a significant choking risk for babies.

“Baby bottle self-feeding devices pose a possible risk to babies from choking, aspiration pneumonia, suffocation and ear infections,” the ACCC said.

They may also pose a suffocation or strangulation risk if they slip around the child’s mouth or neck.

Ezone’s infant feeding pillow carries a serious risk of significant choking.

The ACCC warned there had been infant deaths associated with using the self-feeding devices.

Use of these devices is not recommended according to Commonwealth, and advice from Australia’s states and territories advise against propping up a bottle for a baby to feed and feeding a baby unsupervised.

Further information is available at the Commonwealth Department of Health website.

The feeding pillow has two product codes: Z3007, Z3008 and come in pink and cyan (green).

Ezone sold the pillows between 9 May 2024 and 10 April 2025.

The ACCC recommends for parents to cease using these items immediately and dispose of it safely so it can’t be used by anyone else.

Both products were made in China.

The head supports for children’s car seats and self-feeding pillows have both been subject to a consumer safety warning since August 2024 — but are not banned for sale in Australia.
