When Lockett ventured into the roof space, he found something remarkable.

He emerged with a 4.3m-long snake skin that was still intact.

The skin also came with an owner.

In a social media post, Lockett asked the businesses’ followers to guess how long the owner, a coastal carpet python, was in comparison to its skin.

“We know snake skins are longer than the snake due to the stretching of the skin so I thought I would play a guessing game,” he said.

“Leave your guess below of how long you think the actual snake is and I’ll put up a post this afternoon with the answer.”

Most people guessed around 3m.

Lockett revealed the answer hours later, posting a picture of the 3.25m python he found in a wall cavity at the Mt Gravatt home.

“Snake skin is roughly 20 per cent to 30 per cent longer than the snake,” he said.
