A doctor and nurse provided first aid to the man on the shore while waiting for paramedics to arrive but he died from his injuries shortly after 4.30pm.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

It comes after a 23-year-old Queensland Parks and Wildlife ranger was killed in a shark attack in the same area in April.
