Prince Harry wraps up positive UK visit with Diana Awards appearance

The Duke of Sussex's four-day visit to Britain ended on a high note with a deeply personal tribute to his late mother. Could this signal more frequent returns home?

Prince Harry concluded his four-day visit to the UK on a deeply personal note, attending a charity event honouring his late mother at The Diana Awards.

The Duke of Sussex appeared to be back in his element, looking like his “old working royal self” as he engaged with young changemakers at the event — a project very close to his heart.

During the ceremony, Harry remembered Princess Diana and how she was a firm believer in the power of purpose and its impact on young people’s mental health.

“You talk about the mental health piece that is woven through so much of this and it is... it’s emotional, it’s mental and emotional wellbeing,” Harry said.

“This proven model of being engaged with or finding your purpose in social action, it really does work.”

The appearance capped off what has been described as a positive trip to the UK for Prince Harry, marking a departure from his usual court appearances that have dominated previous visits.

The crescendo of the trip was Harry’s meeting with his father King Charles at Clarence House — their first face-to-face encounter in 19 months, signalling that the royal rift could be healing ever so slowly.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said he very much enjoyed his trip back to the UK. He is now on his way home to California to rejoin Meghan and their children.

The successful visit has sparked speculation that Prince Harry could be spending more time in the UK in future.
