The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to hospital with internal injuries.

A passenger has died in a single-vehicle crash on Monday.

Two young men were travelling on Mount Darragh Rd at Mount Darragh, an hour southwest of Bega, when the car crashed about 10.30am.

It “had left the roadway, gone down an embankment and struck a tree,” NSW Police said.

Emergency services could not revive the front-seat passenger.

The man in his 20s died at the scene.

The driver, another man believed to be in his 20s, suffered internal injuries in the crash.

He was taken to Bega Hospital, and then airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

The winding, tree-lined road was closed to traffic in both directions as emergency services attend the scene.

Traffic was being diverted to the Snowy Mountains Hwy, and Imlay Rd, according to Live Traffic NSW.

Investigation into the crash are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
