‘Ocean Rambler’ boat travelling from Vanuatu to Australia beaches in Queensland, but American sailor not found

Police searched the vessel, which had journeyed from Vanuatu, but found no one.
An American man has not been seen since his vessel, the Ocean Rambler, washed up in Far North Queensland.

There is mystery over an American sailor after his ship was found beached on the Australian coastline.

The vessel, named the Ocean Rambler, ran aground near Cape Bedford, five hours north of Cairns in Queensland’s Far North, late on Saturday night.

A search of the area about 8am the following morning failed to turn up any sign of its sole occupant.

“A 62-year-old American man has last made records on (Wednesday),” Queensland Police said.

The 14m-long boat was sailing from Vanuatu to Australia, investigations indicate.

It is not known if the man made it to shore.

Investigators want to speak to anyone who saw the vessel before it washed ashore.
