A 20-month-old girl died and a 74-year-old man was arrested and taken for mandatory questioning after the incident near the Victorian border.

An infant has died after she was hit by a 4WD at a home near the New South Wales and Victorian border.

The 20-month-old girl died on Wednesday afternoon when she was hit by a Toyota Hilux at the Corowa property’s driveway.

Emergency services attended and attempted to revive the girl but she died at the scene.

Officers established a crime scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He was arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Corowa Police Station for questioning.
