New security camera footage shows Charlie Kirk murder suspect Tyler Robinson on day of shooting

A home’s door camera caught the shooting suspect casually walking down a nearby street.

New footage has been released showing alleged gunman Tyler Robinson on the morning he is said to have shot and killed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck during a speaking event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday.

A large police response followed with more than 7000 leads and tips from the public, the largest number the FBI has received on an incident since the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, the bureau said.

Robinson, 22, was reportedly recognised by his father in videos and photos shared by news outlets of the alleged gunman and urged his son to hand himself in.

A tip to police from a family friend ultimately lead to Robinson, an electrical apprentice, handing himself in on Friday.

A new video, released on Sunday local time, was captured by a door security camera at a home in Orem, Utah.

The door camera films a grey Dodge Challenger driving past on the morning of Kirk’s death.

Local police said they believe the suspected shooter drove the same car prior to the shooting, according to Fox News.

More than an hour later, the footage appears to show Robinson, dressed in a dark red t-shirt, shorts and a backpack, walking past the home in the opposite direction.

Robinson did not have any prior criminal record before the alleged murder of Kirk.

In a press conference with Utah Governor Spencer Cox on Thursday night local time, footage and images were released of a man, dressed in all-dark clothing, running along a university roof before dropping to the ground.

The figure is believed to have run towards a wooded area before disappearing.

Authorities said the suspect, now believed to be Robinson, was wearing sunglasses, Converse shoes and a black T-shirt featuring an American flag and an eagle.

The governor called the shooter an “evil human being” before saying legal work was being done behind the scenes to pursue the death penalty.

However, Utah Attorney General Derek Brown told local television station ABC4 he couldn’t say whether prosecutors will pursue the death penalty for Kirk’s murder, but that “everything is on the table”.

Talking to CNN, Cox said Robinson was not cooperating with authorities and had not confessed to the shooting.

He is expected to be formally charged on Tuesday, according to Cox.
