A body has been found after hours of searching a lake for a missing fisherman.

The 82-year-old man went on a fishing trip at Lake Macquarie in NSW on Thursday, and concerns were raised when he had not returned by 4pm.

After his boat was located abandoned, emergency services — including NSW Police, Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving NSW — launched a search for the man.

A Surf Life Saving NSW helicopter eventually located the man’s body in the water about 7.40pm.
