Parents were reportedly not notified by the school but were instead informed about the lockdown by their children. 

A school in Melbourne’s west was placed into lockdown after five people involved in a chase with NSW Police decided to hide at the school.

It is understood Manor Lakes P-12 College on Minindee Rd in Wyndham Vale was locked down about 11am on Tuesday.

Police initially responded to reports a stolen Porsche was driving erratically in the area near Fraser Ridge.

The car was followed to Manor Lakes before it was dumped on Minindee Rd and five people inside the car fled into the school.

The school was placed into lockdown as a precaution.

The lockdown has since been lifted.

The police Air Wing assisted in the search. Three people have been located and taken into custody while police are continuing to search for the remaining two offenders.

Parents were reportedly not notified by the school about the lockdown but were instead informed by their children.

In a note sent to parents following the incident, Principal Tori Mulligan said no students or staff were injured and that school day had resumed as normal.

“I’m writing to let you know that we implemented our student safety procedures this morning following an incident that impacted our school,” he said.

“Victoria Police assisted us after an allegedly stolen vehicle was abandoned near our school property and its occupants fled into one of our toilets where they were subsequently apprehended.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is always our highest priority and wellbeing support is available for any student who may need it.”
