“We believe that the incident was a targeted incident, and what I mean by that is that it’s not a random incident, and we don’t have someone going around shooting up houses at random,” Senior Sergeant Kevin Mawdsley said.
“(The man) received some surgery yesterday and was in the intensive care unit overnight.
“His injuries were not life-threatening, but certainly serious enough to result in him being treated in the ICU.”
Mawdsley said the man discharged himself from the ICU on Monday morning before police could speak with him.
“The investigators have not had much of an opportunity to speak with that, male victim, however, we would like to speak to him, as a priority.”
Police said gunfire had gone through a rear door of the home as the man stood on the other side.
“(He was) very fortunate in the sense that he wasn’t directly shot, and we could be looking at a murder investigation if that was the case,” Mawdsley said.
The search for the gunman is still ongoing, with police confirming the suspect and firearm remain unaccounted for.
Police are asking anyone with information, or dashcam, or CCTV footage to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
