A man has died after three motorcycles collided in the Hunter.

Emergency services were called to Great North Road, Wollombi — 75km southwest of Newcastle — about 10.40am on Sunday.

A rider aged in his 40s was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Two men, aged 39 and 36, were treated for leg and chest injuries before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in stable conditions.
