A man has been left fighting for life after being hit by a falling tree branch on the Gold Coast.

The man, aged in his 30s, was at a home in Springbrook when he was hit by the falling branch about 11.20am on Tuesday.

Paramedics and a High Acuity Response team rushed to the scene, according to an ambulance spokesperson.

“The man was treated for a potentially life-threatening chest injury,” they said.

“He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital under lights and sirens.”

Last month, an 11-year-old girl was left with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a falling branch while with a school group at Government House in Canberra.

Anais Betts suffered a severe head injury, and was taken to hospital and placed in an induced coma.
