A man has allegedly been stabbed to death at a community housing facility in Melbourne’s east.

Emergency services attended the facility on Abeckett Street in Kew at 10am on Tuesday where they found the 54-year-old in a communal area with critical injuries.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

It’s understood a verbal argument between two men led to a fatal fight.

A 56-year-old man, who was at the scene, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is under police guard.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
