St John WA, police and fire crews were called to Alice St just after 2.30pm.

It is not yet clear what machinery was involved.

WorkSafe investigators are on their way to the site to look into what went wrong, www.20304050.best has been told.

The incident comes 10 months after the firm was fined more than $500,000 over the death of a worker crushed by unmaintained machinery.

The welder, aged in his 40s, was killed when a 1350kg welding manipulator boom he was working under “fell suddenly” at the fabrication workshop in Bassendean.

The disaster, in May 2019, resulted in “fatal crush injuries”.

The workplace injury also comes just a couple of weeks after the firm won a contract to help build US Navy vessels.

Hofmann will supply WA-made components for nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, and is the first Australian company to do so.
