A 29-year-old man will face court next month after allegedly driving at more than seven times the legal alcohol limit.
Multiple members of the public contacted police on Sunday afternoon about a white Holden Rodeo allegedly colliding with gutters and median strips in Speers Point, about 17km from the centre of Newcastle.
When police caught up with the driver on Croudace Bay Road in Belmont, he was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. Secondary analysis at Belmont Police Station returned a reading of 0.359.
He was charged with high-range drinking driving and will appear before Belmont Local Court on June 18. The driver’s licence has been suspended.
