A man was allegedly shoved into the boot of his own car, doused in petrol and had his house burnt down in a terrifying home invasion.
Three unknown offenders arrived at a property on Melba Hwy in Yea, 112km north-east of Melbourne, and knocked on the door about 1.15am on Monday.
The group, two armed with guns and the other with a machete, allegedly confronted a man inside and entered the home.

They demanded cash and guns from the 58-year-old victim and assaulted him when he refused.
The group then allegedly dragged the man out of the house and put him in the boot of his own car.
Police say the car was then driven down the driveway of the home before the man escaped from the boot.
“The victim got out of the vehicle and was threatened again by one of the offenders, whilst the other two set the house on fire,” Victoria Police said.
The group then doused the man in petrol before fleeing the scene in a car.
The victim drove to a nearby property where he called emergency services.
He suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was not taken to hospital.
It took over three hours for fire crews to bring the blaze under control.
The home was completely destroyed.
Police say three guns were stolen from the property during the incident.
“No arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation remains ongoing,” police said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
