A multi-vehicle crash on a busy motorway caused chaos during the morning rush hour, with drivers reportedly stuck in traffic for up to 90 minutes.

Emergency crews rushed to the northbound lanes of the Gateway Motorway near Rochedale in Queensland at about 8.40 am on Wednesday following a crash involving two trucks, a van and an SUV, Queensland Police Service (QPS) said.

“All northbound lanes were closed”, police said.

“Motorists are urged to avoid the area and expect delays.”

Paramedics treated three people at the scene.

They were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.

Police confirmed traffic started to ease when one lane reopened at about 11am.

However, authorities continued to urge drivers to seek alternative routes while clean-up of the roads and investigations were carried out.
