Following investigations, her husband, 52-year-old Shane Scheikowski, was arrested at an address on Hackman St in McDowall and questioned for hours before being released without charge.

He was arrested again on Sunday and charged with murder (domestic violence offence) and entering a dwelling with intent.

He is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Scheikowski and Luke had been known to each other for almost 20 years, according to the Daily Mail.

Luke, a mother-of-two, had worked as a nurse for more than 25 years.

Her workplace, Nundah Doctors Surgery, described her as “irreplaceable” in a heartfelt tribute posted on its website.

“On 23 August 2025, Nundah Doctor Surgery lost our wonderful nurse, colleague, and dear friend, Carra Samantha Luke,” the statement reads.

“A most empathic and caring human being, nurse, mother, and friend Carra has been with us for 20 years and was the heart and soul of the practice.

“She has cared for her patients and helped through the most difficult times with the greatest professionalism and dedication.

“She is irreplaceable, and we will miss her every day. She will always remain in our hearts here at the practice.”

Former patients also paid tribute online. One wrote it was “unimaginable” to lose someone with “a gift” for caring for others.

“Devastated [cry emoji]. Carra was a truly beautiful woman, who touched the lives of so many,” the post reads.

“She treated my family through our greatest joy and my hardest times, and I’ll forever treasure our chats and her compassion.

“I especially loved watching her care for her elderly patients, with admirable wit, connection and utmost care. She had such a gift and genuine care for others.”

The former patient said Luke loved her daughters and they would talk about them during almost every appointment.

“This is unimaginable. I hope police can get to the bottom of how on earth this could happen, and we will rally for it to never happen again,” she said.

Police have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Two crime scenes have been established at the Taigum and McDowall addresses, with forensic officers remaining at the Taigum home on Sunday.
