“A number of people were able to leave the property safely prior to police arrival,” Queensland Police said.
Some shots left visible bullet holes in the exterior walls of the house.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man, allegedly fled the scene, prompting a large-scale manhunt.
He was believed to be armed and travelling in a black Suzuki Swift with false number plates displaying 551GE9.
The man was taken into custody at about 1.30pm on Foleys Road at Goodger, about a 15-minute drive south of Kingaroy.
Authorities seized five large rifles and a machete in a red car that he allegedly stole during attempts to evade police.
Access to Kingaroy Hospital was restricted during the incident, and nearby schools, including Saint Mary’s Catholic College, were placed into lockdown or advised to close as a precaution.
Authorities confirmed investigations were ongoing. There have been no reported injuries.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
