One of two people killed in a shocking car crash on a rural road has been identified as a “cherished” high school student.
Two other people are fighting for their lives after the crash on Briagolong Rd in Briagolong, a town in the Gippsland region of Victoria about three hours east of Melbourne.
Police and paramedics called to the single vehicle crash about 3.45pm on Sunday found two people already dead while a woman aged in her 30s and a teenage girl were flown to hospital with critical upper body injuries.

One of the deceased has been identified as a teenager who attended Maffra Secondary College in the neighbouring small town.
“Our thoughts are with the Maffra Secondary College and broader community as they mourn the loss of a cherished student,” the education department said.
“We are also thinking of the family and friends of the deceased student at this sad time.”
The department said support was available to any students and staff impacted by the tragedy.
Police have not yet publicly identified any of the people involved.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,” police said.
